Can you share an iPhone app subscription with your family?

A household access note for subscription apps, with current Apple guidance and an explicit limit on what is known about Squatti Pro.

Sometimes. Family Sharing supports eligible App Store subscriptions, but you need to check the exact subscription you want to share. Being able to download an app does not establish that another family member can use its paid features.

Squatti and Trending Tech Blogs are both NaguBuilds projects. Squatti appears below as an example of an app whose public Pro requirement is known but whose plan-specific sharing eligibility has not been verified for this guide.

Start with the subscription, not the app icon

Write down the app, the plan name and whether Apple or the developer bills you. For a directly billed plan, use the developer's own sharing terms.

For an App Store subscription you already have, Apple's current iPhone sharing guide points to Settings, then Family, Subscriptions and Manage Subscriptions. Open the specific subscription and look for Share with Family. Apple says that if this option is absent, that subscription is not eligible for sharing. Confirm you are checking the subscription itself in an existing Family Sharing group, rather than the app's download button.

If you have not bought the plan, read the current offer and the developer's support information. When the answer is unclear, ask about that exact plan before purchasing it for multiple people. Do not subscribe solely to discover whether family access is included.

Keep Purchase Sharing separate

Check what each sharing setting controls before changing it.

Apple's shared-subscription support page says family members can share subscriptions when Purchase Sharing is turned off. Individual app purchases and non-consumable in-app purchases billed by Apple are treated differently. Purchase Sharing also affects who pays for purchases, so review its current explanation before changing it.

Check the subscription setting before changing unrelated sharing options.

Make a household access note

  • App and exact subscription plan:
  • Billing route: App Store or another provider:
  • Family Sharing group already set up:
  • Eligibility evidence: subscription setting, current developer statement or unknown:
  • Share with Family option present, absent or not yet checked:
  • What the second person should be able to access:
  • What the second person can actually access, if already tested:
  • Open question and the official support route:

Keep the expected result separate from a result you have observed. A setting can establish sharing eligibility without proving that the second person's app has loaded the entitlement correctly.

If sharing is enabled but the second person still sees a paywall, record the plan and the exact message and use the app's support instructions. Avoid buying a second subscription as an improvised troubleshooting step before you understand the first plan's coverage.

Apply the check to Squatti without guessing

On October 8, 2026, the US store lists the app as Squatti: Wakeup Alarm Clock. Its public product page still uses the Squat Alarm name and says a Pro subscription is required. Current plans and trial eligibility are shown in the app.

Those facts do not answer whether a particular Pro plan is shareable. We did not verify its subscription-level Share with Family setting or test access from another family member's account. Put "eligibility unverified" in the note rather than treating a general Family Sharing explanation as a Squatti feature promise.

The store description also says alarms, progress and preferences stay on the device. A shared purchase would not, by itself, establish a shared alarm schedule or shared streak history. If that is what your household needs, ask about it separately.

Check the current Squatti listing and the specific offer before making a family-access decision. Our squat-alarm selection checklist covers the separate question of whether the movement task, phone setup and subscription fit each person's needs.
